The country known as Holland, or more correctly, The Netherlands (in Dutch: Nederland) has played crucial role in both American history and American current events. It was first country to set up official diplomatic relations with U.S. (in 1782) and is a major investor in U.S. and staunch ally of its foreign policy. Piercing of tourista aura surrounding The Netherlands by actively comparing and contrasting contemporary Dutch culture and society with contemporary American culture and society. How life would be different growing up in The Netherlands.

113 Modern Dutch and Flemish Literature in Translation Robert Kirsner Readings and analysis of works by selected authors of Netherlands and northern (Flemish) Belgium such as Boon, Claus, Couperus, Hermans, Mulisch, Multatuli, and Reve and selected poets such as Campert, Gezelle, Gorter, Kloos, Lucebert, Nijhoff, Van Ostaijen, and Vroman.
